there are somethings about old classic movies that make them very special..and make them an experience every time you watch them...and i never get bored of watching them over and over again..well here im talking about old hindi movies..but english.. i havent seen the classics yet..for me... a good classic english movies would be rocky..simple...clean..oh.. i can go on and on about rocky...anyways.. like i said.. for me the USP for old movies was the simplicity with which they were made.. i like it when changing from one scene to the other.. you get that small blank screen..which tells you that its a new scene...not like the ones that we have now..too much refined film making has somehow put the simplicity in the background..nevertheless..we still have some nice movies..and i cannot deny appreciating the work done by the technicians today.. but then i guess its the sheer art of film making that has changed the face of indian cinema..Anari..a movie staring raj kapoor and nutan..is one of my favorites..it is the same rich woman playing poor story..but aah.. like always.. pretty tough putting things in english when my heart speaks hindi.. anyways..anari.. and many other classics..obviously are very clean when it comes to putting things...if the character is poor..it looks, walks, talks poor...and that to be is very important..something interesting that i just learnt from an "aamir khan" interview was that he did not like slumdog millionaire because there was something wrong about kids from dharavi speaking english..i gave it some thought and came to the conclusion that he was indeed correct..but nevertheless..its a big movie.. i mean for me i dont consider it a biggie but its something out there..there..where it cannot be ignored...coming back to the old movies..ah..the language..the dialogues..wow..classics..i wish i could speak like that..that scene where raj kapoor given money to nootan and tells her to keep it..he says "ahsaan toh amir log karte hain..garib toh ek doosre ki maddatt karte hain" .. im sorry i can remember just one..but gems..all of them..oh yes..and then the part where raj kapoor gets a hat for his land lady..its a classic scene.. i mean..you know whats going to happen but you still have that excitement for it...for me..that is what makes a movie a classic..infact..anything that you can appreciate everytime you watch..read..do..is a classic...my friend chandru used to read the same novels over and over again..he said it was a similar experience as watching a movie again..its a classic..you know whats going to happen..but you still look forward to it..wah wah..magic..infact..movies...masti...magic..a very popular line from zee cinema..i wish someday i have a nice collection of these classics and i find time to watch them with complete peace of mind..the way it should be done....and oh yes..the songs..each and every one of them..wow..i will do it someday.. im not saying that i dont have the time to do it..just that..i dont do it..but hats off to the great filmmakers..great job Sir !! jai shri ram
